Stencils Are An Easy Way To Make DIY Bedroom Accent Pillows

We’d like to welcome back Sharon, the DIY savvy blogger behind Pretty Practical Home. Sharon is in the process of redecorating her daughter’s bedroom. She admits it’s a great space with tall ceilings and a beautiful bay window providing a lot of natural light. To kick off the decorating project, Sharon put together a design board.
Navy, kelly green, and a dash of silver make this room design an automatic stunner. With a design plan in hand, Sharon started crossing off some DIY projects on the list. First up were some accent pillows so naturally, we introduced her to Paint-A-Pillow. Sharon browsed the site and fell in love with our Athena Paint-A-Pillow, a geometric pattern. She selected two white pillow covers along with Jacquard Fabric Paint in green and navy. Before we spill the beans on how to recreate this project, we’ll give you a quick glimpse at her pretty pillows.
We love this color combination in this eye-catching pattern. Sharon was happy to see that her kit included everything she needed to kickoff this project. As soon as her daughter left for school, she got started!
Sharon poured her emerald green Jacquard Fabric paint into a foam tray. She chose to paint the Greek key-inspired pattern using the dense foam roller that is included in the kit.
Sharon was careful to not overload the roller because this would cause the paint to bleed under the stencil. She painted the remaining design in navy blue using a stencil brush.
When the pillow was completely painted, Rita lifted the tabs holding the stencil in place to reveal the pretty pattern. Then she placed the pillow inserts into the painted covers.
And that’s how she did it folks! Here are Sharon’s stenciled accent pillows. She had this to say about the project, “It was certainly easy to do and I enjoyed being able to control the colors. I think the pillows turned out really cute.”
